Ask.com Opening Eco Friendly Data Center in Washington State
Ask.com will house a new Eco-Friendly data center in Moses Lake, located in Eastern Washington, the search company announced today. Ask.com says that the server facility “will enable Ask.com to support its growing query volume and provide additional computing power for processor-intensive search services, including the new Ask3D”.
Ask3D is the new Ask.com which merges multimedia images, video and other results into the traditional web search result mix on Ask.com.
The data center will be located within the TITAN complex, an efficient, highly secure data storage and telecommunications hub, which has zero carbon emissions, and it utilizes renewable hydropower and a low-energy cooling design.
“Moses Lake is an ideal location due to its cooperative business environment, access to low cost, renewable power and superior network connectivity,” said Chuck Geiger, Chief Technology Officer of Ask.com. “With these inherent benefits, Eastern Washington is the right choice for Ask.com as we expand our computing infrastructure to support our growth and expanded search services.”
