Google Adsense Goes to the Mobile Web

Google announces the availability of Adsense to mobile website content. Adsense for mobile will give advertisers more read for their ad campaigns and for publishers additional venue to earn through the Adsense program.

Adsense for Mobile can be implemented by publishers whose major operation is through mobile websites and are monetizing their mobile sites through various means. The availability of Adsense mobile is the right program to monetize their mobile sites.

The new Adsense program works like the ordinary Adsense running on traditional websites whereby ads are served based on its relevance to the content of the site and publishers are paid per click on the ads.

Adsense for mobile will be available for publishers in US, England, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Ireland, Russia, Netherlands, Australia, India, China, and Japan (available in the coming weeks).

Dilip Venkatachari, product management director for Google AdSense for mobile phones, is positive that the mobile Adsense implementation is a major steps towards a profitable mobile market. In a Reuters report, Venkatachari said:

The mobile advertising market is certainly in the early stages, We are making it (financially viable) for new sources of mobile content to emerge.

This is a welcome news for those blogs and sites which have mobile versions. For WordPress powered blogs, creating mobile version of blogs is as easy as installing a plug-in. However, I’m not really sure whether CTRs on ads running on mobile websites would result into significant revenues. Would mobile users really click on these ads?
